Transforming our Emergency Department
More than 62,000 children and young people attend Sheffield Children’s Emergency Department every year, despite the department originally being designed for 24,000.
We’re working towards a £20 million transformation of the Emergency Department, with Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity committed to raising £6.3 million towards the project.
The transformation will create a calmer, more welcoming environment designed around children, young people and their families.
Funds raised through the Master Cutler’s Challenge will help support this transformation and improve the environment for children, young people and families attending the Emergency Department.
Supporting Theo’s Burns Club
A portion of the funds raised through the Master Cutler’s Challenge will also support Theo’s Burns Club, a cause particularly close to Liz’s heart.
Theo’s Burns Club supports children and families following burn injuries, providing social events and ongoing support throughout childhood until transition to adult services.
Liz is particularly involved with Theo’s Burns Club through her work at Sheffield Children’s. She trained as a nurse at Sheffield Children’s in 1990 before returning to the Paediatric Burns Unit in 2007, and has been Burns Lead Nurse since 2019.
Funds raised through the challenge will help Theo’s Burns Club continue to support children and families following burn injuries.
