add remove

We’ll send you a confirmation email of your booking along with your fundraising pack. Keep a look out for our emails as we’ll be sending you hints, tips and up to date news in the run up to event day.

Where does my registration fee go?

add remove

Whilst your registration fee will help cover some of the event costs including your fundraising pack, snowflake medal and lights around Endcliffe Park, it’s the extra money raised on your fundraising page or sponsor forms that really make the difference for the children and families in the hospital.

Can children enter?

add remove

Yes, all children are welcome but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied around the course by an adult.

What distance is the walk/run?

add remove

5km (or 5,000m or 3 miles, whichever way you prefer to look at it). The perfect distance for a run, jog or walk around Endcliffe Park!

The route will be two laps of Endcliffe Park and there will be marshals on route to make sure you are safe and having a great time.

The route map will be uploaded here and also on the registration website nearer the time!

Is the event timed?

add remove

Nope! We would like everyone to enjoy the informal, friendly atmosphere of running or walking along the route, so for this event, there will be no timing or results available. Everyone enjoys the course in their own way. Please feel free to bring your own timing device, if you wish.

Can I walk with my dog?

add remove

You can, however we would advise that all dogs stay on a lead as other participants may not be comfortable around dogs and it will be dark. We would also advise that your dog wears a reflective/lit up collar or lead.

What are the safety rules?

Do I need insurance?

add remove

You will be entering this challenge entirely at your own risk and will not be covered by The Children’s Hospital Charity. Please ensure you read and agree to the terms & conditions when registering for the event.

Can my family and friends come to cheer me on?

add remove

Yes, but why would they want to just come and watch? Get them to join in the fun with you!

What should I wear?

add remove

Get your glow on! We want you to come prepared to glow your way around Endcliffe Park; this includes glow sticks, glow bracelets, glow necklaces, fairy lights! We also want to see Santa hats, elf hats and all other Christmassy costumes.

However glowy you can be, please do remember that whatever you wear should be suitable for physical activity and should keep you warm.

How do I join your Strava club?

add remove

Just click on the following link and join us! Team Theo Strava

How does the start line work? Are there heats/waves?

add remove

The start line will be by the stage and warm up area opposite the play area. All you have to do is listen to our announcer, they will let you know when it’s time to head to the start line – once they say “go” you’ll move with your friends (old and new) to the start line and head off around the park! We would advise those running to start at the front and those walking to start at the back.

The finish line will be located in the Endcliffe Park play area, so once you have done 2 laps, head into the play area to collect your goodies and then head over to the cafe to get your hot chocolate.

Do you have any other rules?

add remove

Respect above all else. We are YES people, we’ll do what we can to ensure a great night as long as you do the same and treat all our: entertainers, participants, venue, staff, volunteers and new friends with respect. We are an alcohol, smoking and drug free zone – we use a zero-tolerance approach – no questions, no arguments, you will be escorted out.

Will the event be cancelled due to adverse weather?

add remove

Come rain or shine we will go ahead!

The only reason the event would be cancelled would be due to heavy snow and ice. If we do have to cancel for this reason, then we will aim to hold the event on an alternative date or virtually as soon as we can. Unfortunately, registration fees are non-refundable for weather cancellations.

If there is a chance of cancellation, a decision will be made on the morning of the event at the earlierst possibility and you will be notified via email, text and social media posts.

Cancellation and refund policy can be found here.

I can’t attend – can I get a refund or transfer my place to someone else?

add remove

Fundraising

What is Team Theo?

add remove

Team Theo is anyone who supports and fundraises for The Children’s Hospital Charity, which helps make Sheffield Children’s Hospital better. We are so happy you are joining Team Theo!

How do I fundraise?

add remove

When you register for Team Theo's Glow in the Park, you will be also encouraged to set up your personal fundraising page. Once set up, you can let your family, friends, relatives, co-workers, classmates and neighbours know you are participating, share with them your fundraising goals, and ask them for a specific donation. Remember, it’s for a really good cause. You will be surprised how many will support your efforts. If fundraising pages aren’t your thing, you will receive sponsorship forms in your fundraising pack that you can use and once you have collected in your fundraising cash, you can bring this into the charity office.

What is the fundraising target?

add remove

We are asking each person entered to raise a minimum of £50 each. Your registration fee will help cover the cost of the event and therefore this £50 can help make a huge difference to Sheffield Children’s Hospital. However, this is not a requirement but every little helps!

Can I buy a Team Theo sports shirt to wear or any glow accessories?

add remove

Yes! Sports shirts are available to purchase on our online shop here for £15.

We also have our yellow charity t-shirts available to purchase on our online shop here for £5.

Glow accessories are also available to purchase, but stock is limited!

Where will my fundraising go?

add remove

Sheffield Children’s Hospital is a specialist children’s hospital, providing world-class care for children all over Yorkshire and across the UK. The Children’s Hospital Charity makes Sheffield Children’s Hospital even better, by creating an environment built with children in mind. Your donations will help us support Sheffield Children's where it is needed most.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

add remove

Ask people to donate directly to your online fundraising page. That way, the money will automatically come direct to us and you don’t have to chase anyone to collect their money. If you’ve collected cash then you can pay the money in by sending a cheque made payable to ‘The Children’s Hospital Charity’ at The Children’s Hospital Charity, Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TH.

You can also send your money in via bank transfer. Please email us at events@tchc.org.uk for our bank details.

Remember, if you’re collecting offline donations, please ask your supporters to fill in a sponsorship form and tick the Gift Aid box, if applicable.

If someone else signed you up to the event - please reference both yours and their name when handing over any offline donations.

How will you contact me about this event?

add remove

Is there a social media hashtag?

add remove
