Why we’re fundraising….
Sunday 17th Nov Ellena and I are getting excited for Glow in the Dark. We still visit the Children’s Hospital several times a year for Ellena’s ongoing care after they saved her life as a baby, more than once. Ellena was born with TOF/OA which meant her oesophagus wasn’t connected properly when she was born and she needed surgery on it and her windpipe at just two days old. They also took care of us a few months after she was born when her windpipe collapsed and she stopped breathing, we had to be airlifted from holiday back to the hospital. She’s had various surgeries since to widen her oesophagus and windpipe, as well as camera check ups over the last few years.Ellena also only has one kidney and we see the team at Sheffield every year for check ups and scans to check her kidney function is keeping up with her growth, so far so good 😊. And this last 18 months they’ve been looking after her ears which she’s been having problems with infections and temporary hearing loss, she had surgery to fit grommets in the spring which has made a massive difference.
We’re so grateful to have such a fabulous children’s hospital on our doorstep, and they have always looked after us so well.
Ellena is fit and well day to day, and loves to do lots of different sports, and she’s a keen fundraiser for the hospital. We’re both excited to be taking part in the event in December and to be fundraising again.
We always know the hospital is there keeping an eye on her and there if we need it.

Enjoy! Keep being brilliant Ellena x
