I'm fundraising for The Children’s Hospital Charity!

I'm taking on Team Theo's Glow in the Park to raise money for the Sheffield Children's Hospital

This year, I will be walking/jogging in memory of my late son, Birthday Memory Christmas. Day

Daniel.  was my firstborn, a baby who taught me how to become a mum; little did I know at the time, he would teach me so much more. Like all mothers, I faced many challenges with my child, but in Daniel’s case, his illness brought profound pain, fear, and uncertainties, reaching depths I never knew existed.

The memories we hold of Daniel are intertwined with the support we received from Sheffield Children's Hospital, specifically the Old M3 ward, now known as Ward 6. Daniel was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma at 14 years old. Despite being in immense pain, requiring up to 72 tablets at one point, his spirit remained unbroken. The disease eventually spread to his lungs, leading to renal failure. During this difficult time, life took on a whole new meaning for both of us, and the challenges strengthened our bond.

His resilience was truly extraordinary.

                               🤍

Daniel was immensely talented, warm, and caring. He was a born artist with a natural flair for drawing and painting. Thanks to Rachael and the team, he continued his art while an inpatient at the hospital. Daniel had an incredible eye for detail and a unique creative style. He loved his family and friends, thrived in his education, and even managed to travel to some amazing places, meeting wonderful people along the way. One of his proudest moments was having his artwork displayed at Christie’s auction house in London.

Despite his strength, bravery, and resilience, Daniel passed away in May 2010 at the age of 19. I share Daniel’s story because he is my child, and I will never stop talking about him. The memories of him will live on forever because he was more than his cancer.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sheffield Children's Hospital, Ward M3 (now Ward 6), the PACT charity, Beryl, Sarah & and all the amazing staff. Thank you for taking the time to read this.   ❤️
