I'm fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity!

We're taking on Team Theo's Chatsworth 10m Walk to raise money for Sheffield Children's hospital!

Romilly saw this and was eager to give it a go.

As I'm sure you're all aware sheffield children's hospital plays a very important part in our lives, esp for Romilly. We currently visit weekly for  tests and check ups and the hospital continuously go above and beyond for Rom, we couldn't fault it one bit. They find a way to make Romilly feel special in even the hardest of situations.  So much so she asks me regularly if she can stay the night after her tests!

Now she would like to raise some money for her much loved Theo, the hospital mascot. She hopes to raise £100, in the hopes it will but lots more Playdoh and books for her ward, (along with all the important stuff they spend donations on 🙈)

Romilly struggles to walk far due to her condition and pain,  1k is more than she can manage but between myself, Louis, Imogen her Auntie Tata and some friends we're determined to get her round the full 10k one way or another!

Medical Day care

Tuesday 7th Jun
Me and rom currently visit the children's for weekly blood tests and check ups.
Romilly used to be TERRIFIED of these until one nurse,  Martha, promised her she'd help, and she really did!
She asked Rom to visit her personally on medical day care for all her blood tests.
She showed her round the ward, let her play, got to know her and put her at ease.  She taught her how to use the UV light to find her best veins, apply and remove her own numbing cream in the correct place, fill in her blood forms and send them off in the shooty rocket around the hospital.
She introduced her to the other staff,  the receptionist let her "work" on reception and gave her the special lion teddy from the receptionist window.  The other nurses chat to her about guinea pigs, disney and lion King,   share hilarious animal impressions and spend time getting to know her so she feels at home.  They even visit her on the ward when she's an inpatient just to say hello and cheer her up.
1 year on and Martha and her team continue to go above and beyond to make the experience a happier one.
Romilly still, understandably, doesn't like her tests, but she always leaves with a smile on her face.

This is just one example.
Sheffield children's hospital and the amazing teams that work there repeatedly strive to deliver top quality care and make difficult situations a little bit easier.
